Old Westbury, NY - March 22, 2016 - The North Shore Land Alliance will honor, Frank Castagna at its 8th annual “Fore the Love of the Land” Golf and Tennis outing on May 18, 2016 at Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley. Mr. Castagna, a Land Alliance Trustee, is being recognized for his leadership in protecting and enhancing the quality of life on Long Island.
In speaking about Frank Castagna, Lisa Ott, Land Alliance President said, “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to honor Frank Castagna. He is an outstanding man who has done so much to make our community a better place. Frank continues to work tirelessly to bring beauty to so many through art, history, music and nature. His long-standing support of the Land Alliance has been integral to our organizations growth and ability to fulfill our conservation mission.” She added, “This is an important fundraising event for the Land Alliance. More than 20,000 acres of environmentally sensitive land remain in the Land Alliance’s catchment area, of which 11,000 acres are highly prized golf courses. Hosting a golf fundraiser like this is a very fitting way to raise awareness about the important relationships among land and water and community health.”
In discussing the Land Alliance, Mr. Castagna commented, “It is remarkable how much the Land Alliance has accomplished in its land conservation efforts in Nassau and western Suffolk during the past 14 years. In a short period of time, the Land Alliance has permanently protected more than 1,200 acres of local land and raised $265 million in public and private funding for local land and water protection.” He added, “The Land Alliance is an asset to our community as it supports sensible growth and the preservation of green spaces, wetlands and historical sites that helps to ensure a healthy future for all who live and work here.”
Frank Castagna, along with his wife Rita, is a principal of Castagna Realty Company, a third generation 94 year-old company specializing in the development and management of premier properties, many of which are within Long Island communities such as Garden City, North Hills and Greenvale. Castagna Realty’s flagship operation, Americana Manhasset, is an internationally recognized luxury shopping destination featuring award-winning architecture by Peter Marino and landscaping by Oehme Van Sweden.
In addition to the Land Alliance, Frank is involved in many charitable endeavors. He is Chairman Emeritus of the Council of Overseers for Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and is Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Museum of Art. Frank is a member of the Board of The American Jewish Committee, New York, and he is a former board member of Friends Academy and Old Westbury Gardens.
